"Verlaine’s risqué and clever reconstruction makes an already familiar story exciting." ~Seattle Dances
House of Verlaine's Giselle will premiere in its entirety August 31, 2017 at The Triple Door and will play for three performances.
Giselle, under the direction of Lily Verlaine takes the setting of the classic ballet out of the forest and into a haunted house designed by Spotlight Award-winning scenic designer Julia Welch.
Special thanks to Mark Haim for including us in Washington Ensemble Theater's ReSet and to Susan Soon-He Stanton whose work in The Things Are Against Us inspired the visual elements in this retelling of Giselle, where we explore the idea that a woman's recovery in the face of betrayal and exploitation does not necessarily default to a redemptive forgiveness.
Please consider making a tax-deductable donation to House of Verlaine in order to nurture this project.
